The Waking Life Team:

Melanie Salazar, LMP - (WA License MA00024938)

Sunday: 12-6

Thursday: 2-7

Friday: 9-2

Saturday: 9-2

Melanie is a graduate of the Brian Utting School of Massage and is nationally certified in therapeutic massage. She has volunteered at the Pacific Northwest Ballet for over two years as a massage therapist to the dancers, helping to treat their injuries and help prevent them, and has volunteered as a graduate assistant to several instructors at the Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy (Seattle).  She enjoys working with clients of all activity levels, whether they are in training for a specific event, or just restarting a workout program after a period of recovery or rest.  Melanie helps her clients reach their fitness goals through her customized treatment plans, as well as recommending simple, effective self-care routines that will maximize the benefits that they receive from their massages.  From personal experience, she recognizes that by receiving a series of deep tissue and neuromuscular therapy sessions, this can help decrease pain from an injury, improve posture and overall body alignment, and can increase one’s energy. Her continuing education in Reflexology influences her holistic approach to her clients’ bodies; since the feet send and receive messages to and from the rest of the body, the feet should provide a solid foundation in order to support the body’s optimal health.

In her spare time, Melanie enjoys running, vegetarian cooking, and fueling her creative side by making art and writing fiction.

Adell utilizes a variety of modalities in her sessions, including: Swedish and Injury Treatment massage, deep tissue, energy work, cupping and Myofascial techniques.

In her spare time she enjoys dance, hiking, yoga and quality time with friends and family.

Thursday: 2-7

Sarah graduated from Brenneke School of Massage in 2004.  Her approach to massage is intuitive and holistic, focused on helping clients to heal their bodies and relax while keeping their goals and comfort in mind.  Her specialty is treatment work balanced with an element of relaxation.  She has years of experience working with clients with injuries, ranging from accidents to ongoing postural and overuse issues, incorporating techniques from Swedish, Deep Swedish, Shiatsu, and a range of other styles, as well as Reiki, a form of energy work which can be very beneficial, particularly for those clients who are not able to tolerate deeper work due to medical limitations.  Beyond injury treatment, Sarah hopes to provide encouragement and support through bodywork to those who are seeking to find more balance in their bodies and their lives and also has training and experience in pregnancy massage and self-relaxation techniques.

Sarah enjoys yoga, swimming, dancing, art making, being in nature, traveling and exploring new places, reading, practicing Italian, and spending time playing and cooking with friends and family.

Ruth is a monotype printmaker, and her work can be found in many homes and businesses in the Seattle area, as well as at her printmaking website: rhesse.com.
