 Testimonials:

I'm still a massage newbie trying to figure out how it all works.  Before coming to Waking Life, I had gotten one massage before, at a spa.

I had walked by Waking Life a few times while I was a student at UW, but never really thought much about the place until I saw they were offering a $35 massage deal on Groupon.  I spend most of the workday sitting at a computer  - and due to my shabby posture my shoulders get super tense and sore.  $35 was a small price to pay for sweet relief, especially for an hour-long massage.

I knew the massage was going to be great, but my entire experience at Waking Life surpassed my expectations.  When I walked in the door, I was promptly greeted by friendly staff members ready to get me checked in: "You must be Dana."  Waking Life also sells massage equipment, so it's a busy place - people are checking in for massage appointments, and sales staff are helping customers choose from the HUGE selection of massage oils & lotions or pick out a massage table.  While I was filling out the pre-massage paperwork, I could hear the staff explaining the various products to customers.  They all seemed very helpful and knowledgeable.

My massage with Melanie was excellent.  We talked about my sore & tense shoulders and she agreed to focus on that area.  I'm the kind of person who likes to know how things work, so I really liked that Melanie occasionally explained how certain parts of the massage relieved tension in my shoulder muscles.  She was also very good about asking me if the pressure was okay.  The massage was so relaxing, I was nearly asleep by the end!

Who needs a fancy spa?  My visit to Waking Life was outstanding in every way.  The staff is friendly and conscientious and made me feel very comfortable.  I'll definitely return here for my next massage! ~ D.W.

My massage with Sarah was awesome! She was really friendly and was able to turn my rock solid muscles into mush. I would recommend her and hope to see her again. She went over my chart and all my problem areas and concerns. She made me feel very comfortable.

They have really fair prices for the massage they give. It was more of a healing, theraputic massage. It was pretty cut and dry, so none of the foo-foo stuff at a spa. No foot bath or heat packs, just a great massage. They will bill your insurance too, if you have it. ~ K.N.

This review is based solely on Jessie Rey, accupuncturist.  Jessie Rey is soothing and  incredibly competent.  She has a specialty in Chinese Herbalism First Aid for injuries.
She's one of my favorite Medical People. ~ L.P.

I haven't received bodywork here yet, but I get all my essential oils and massage oils from Waking Life. Always great selection and best quality. Always friendly people never pushy or too busy to answer questions. Love it! ~ R.R.

Just wanted to thank you for providing me supplies for the craft I love…Your store and business ROCK!  Thanks again! ~ K.G.

I've been going to Waking Life for massage and it is fabulous. Ruth is my massage therapist and she has great hands. She has also been working on my injured shoulder and really knows a lot about the body and what massage therapy can do to encourage healing. I also think Waking Life is reasonably priced. ~ M.E.

As a new chiropractor in the area, I recently came in looking for a good supplier for massage lotions, and other supplies. I found your staff extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and left not only with some great vegan lotion, but also a grab bag of some really great samples. Thanks again for your help, I will surely be back whenever the need of supplies brings me out of my office, and I know I’ll feel better supporting a local business than buying my supplies on the Web. ~ I.C.

I would give this place 6 stars if I could.  The staff is so helpful, the supplies are top of the line... and the absolute best part are the services.  I'm a massage therapist and earlier this year my hands were hurting after working for many years.  I did 5 acupuncture sessions with Jessie Rey and I have not had ANY pain since.  I've also received some of the best massage of my life at Waking Life and I feel like I have very high standards.  I see Kari who has helped me through both my pregnancies as well as treatment massage, and yummy all around feel great massage.  She can do it all.  Her hands are so talented and magical and she has a great knowledge of the body and is intuitive as well.  I always sense that she knows what I need and her pressure is superb.  I could not hope for a better massage. The ambiance of the treatment rooms is lovely as well.   I also think the prices for massage and acupuncture is incredibly affordable.  I'd recommend this place to ANYONE! I LOVE IT! ~ J.C.

I came across this place when I received a prescription for massage therapy and needed a place that bills insurances.  I found it by chance and it is AMAZING!  I have seen two of the therapists for over two months now.  They have improved my pain and range of movement, even my doctor and chiropractor have noticed.  The atmosphere is very comfortable and everyone is friendly and easy to talk to.  Parking has always been easy to find.  I highly recommend this place! ~ C.B.

I love going to waking life! I always leave feeling like I'm on cloud nine! ~ A.L.

I have been in the healing arts for nearly 29 years. I used to shop almost exclusively at Zenith Supply for my massage supplies, but now use Waking Life. Why the switch? Excellent Customer service, earth friendly supplies, organic lotions/oils/creams. Most of the well known massage brands contain some of the same preservatives as gasoline, which can cause dermatological conditions and problems. Waking Life provides healthier products that erase these well-known brands from the map. Thank you R & K, you have a happy and deliriously satisfied client for life. ~ S.L.

Once I found Waking Life I haven't gone to another place to get a massage.  I found this place through a friend of a friend when it first opened up.  I usually only get massages based on recommendations, but I would go to anyone here.  I've also been going to WL for acupuncture with Jessie Ray and believe she has magical hands.  Whether I have a stubbed toe or a migraine I know I'm in good hands. ~ P.R.

This place came up on a web search while I was up in Seattle this past weekend.  They rent massage tables and have high quality massage supplies including oils, sheets, tools, etc.  I rented a table for $15 / day which worked out perfectly.  They also gave me a bunch of free oil and lotion samples that came in handy.  As a massage practitioner, it's nice to know stores like this exist.  The people who manage the store were very friendly and helpful.  They have rooms in back for massage treatments.  I'll be back the next time I go to Seattle. ~ H.K.

I love Waking Life. I just started getting massages here for some chronic back pain & shoulder tension, and I've never felt so good! ~ J.W.

Fast, efficient, and the nicest folks to deal with. ~ K.C.

This is great alternative supply place for massage therapist to Zenith.  The store staff and therapist are friendly and helpful.  The one draw back is that you have to pay for parking but there is usually plenty available. ~ G.S.

My shoulders haven't felt this good in ages!  This brand new therapy center has got themselves some very good therapists with some very good training. The fees are reasonable and even though its located in the U. District, they have parking nearby that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
I've been pointing my friends in the direction of relaxation and healing at Waking Life. And if you're a massage therapist looking for supplies, you now have another choice besides Zenith. ~ R.H.

I went to Jessie Ray the acupuncturist last year for leg cramps and sore muscles in my back: I'd never had acupuncture therapy before but she was excellent at making me feel comfortable and much more relaxed (both in terms of her demeanor and the services she did on me: acupuncture and cupping). The people here that perform the services and ring them up are great and I've never had a bad experience with them. Best of all: this place takes insurance! ~ S.Z.

This place rocks! It is a pleasure just to go in and see familiar smiling faces, who acutally care about how you are doing! Everyone here is Amazingly Awesome!! ~ P.M.

Conveniently located and great owners and staff. ~ S.L.

I've been going to Waking Life for over a year now and I'm very impressed. And I'M a massage therapist -- with very high standards!!! Their rooms are very large and clean and quite professional. The owners, Kari and Ryan, and their staff are very friendly and helpful. The massages I've received have been treatment-oriented (my request) and what a difference they have made with my aches and pains. I would HIGHLY recommend stopping by to see what they have to offer (even non-massage therapists will love the store). I guarantee, you won't be disappointed. ~ S.S.

Great people, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, loads of product and information. And relaxing massages! ~ K.T.

Kari and Ryan (the owners of the store) create a calm yet goal-oriented atmosphere that makes you confident that you will receive whatever treatment you are looking for. Whether you merely want to spend time "away from it all", or need relief from chronic pain due to an injury, the people at Waking Life will work with you through massage therapy and acupuncture to bring you back to your normal self. I personally suffered a traumatic back injury while working on my house last year, and after just a few short months of massage and acupuncture appointments, i was good as new. By and far the best in Seattle! ~ A.B.

Oh, Waking Life, it's hard to count the ways I love you!  I first came here a couple years ago in crazy pain from an injury. They not only worked miracles on my shoulder but were incredibly nice and supportive in the process. Every massage therapist I've met has been wonderful, but Kari May is in a league of her own. She's smart, caring, and has magic hands that can fix things you didn't even know were wrong.  Katy is also exceptional.  I brought my parents here when they were visiting, and they were a little apprehensive about their first massage experience.  They can't stop talking (still) about how comfortable she made them and how great they felt afterward. I realize I'm kind of gushing already, but it gets really bad when I talk about Jessie Rey.  I've always been curious about acupuncture, but cautious.  It's a measure of how much I trust Waking Life that I went ahead and took the plunge to start working with Jessie Rey.  It's hard to sum up all the goodness that she causes.  She listens completely, with insight and compassion leavened with good humor.  I walk out of there every time with this amazing sense of well-being.  And what she does with those needles, damn (they don't hurt, by the way, in case you've ever worried about that).  I started acupuncture to deal with muscle pain, but Jessie Rey has helped me be well in much more fundamental ways.  I was weeks away from needing major surgery for a long-term medical problem.  The only difference between then and my doctor's surprised reaction to the latest happy test results was Jessie Rey. ~ A.C.

When I first started massage school, I bought everything I needed (table, books, sheets, oils, etc) online because I thought it would be cheaper. Flash forward to now and last month I started my own private practice and needed some massage supplies quickly (no time to order online!). Being that I am a Brian Utting grad, I knew about Waking Life, but because I live on the Eastside, I'd never been. I decided to make the drive and pick up the items I needed on the spot. I was so pleasantly surprised that the prices of oils, sheets, tables and supplies were so similar to what I'd been paying online! I picked up a bed heater (which was the exact same price as was being offered on Amazon and Massage Warehouse - but I didn't have to pay shipping) and some oils. The oils are much cheaper than what I had been buying online - and the Oil/Lotion Bar is so much fun! You're able to choose your bottle size (from 2oz to 32oz, I think) and then choose your oil/lotion! They even offer 1oz trial bottles for free! The staff is so amazing! The two times I've been in in the last month, everyone has been SO helpful and kind. Overall, the prices are very comparable to what you may find on online sites like Amazon, but who doesn't love to support the little local shops?? AND they do offer online purchasing, too. I really love this shop and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs massage/bodywork supplies! ~ C.S.
